L4D Boycott
I found this on fpsbanana and figured I'd post it here to see what you guys think:

From their Page:
he few people here who defend the decision to make L4D2 seem to not understand what everyone is upset about. I've tried to summarize the most common issues I've heard people having in hopes that it clears things up:
* Significant content for L4D1 was promised, and never delivered
* Valve put little faith in L4D1 since they almost certainly started working on L4D2 right after release
* The fact that L4D2 is nearly identical to L4D1 will decimate the community for both games
* The announced date is not nearly enough time to polish content or make significant gameplay changes
* The new character designs seem bland and unappealing so far
* L4D2 is too bright to fit in with L4D1's visual aesthetic
* The fiddle-based horde music is extremely disliked, though the differently orchestrated music is otherwise welcome
* L4D2's release will result in a drop in quality and frequency for L4D1 content, even compared to before
* The community has lost faith in Valve's former reputation for commitment to their games post-release

Agree or disagree?

I probably won't buy the sequel since it's too "same-y" from the looks, but I'm not going to get all pissy about it and join some faux-boycott that won't make a difference. People that think companies give two shits about their opinions need to realize publishers and developers generally don't care about anything except profit. Valve is no different, as much as their fanbase would like to argue the opposite. It's not like Valve hasn't under-delivered or outright broken promises for other games in the past.
I do agree that Valve should fix their first broken game instead of making an immediate sequel though.
Actually most companies will eventually buckle under enough community pressure. Look at Blizzard. It's fighting a constant battle with it's playerbase that cry nerf and buff daily. A more suitable example for Valve would be the Backburner Pyro fiasco, a good three weeks of constant forum shitstorms saw the update removing the +50 health to the weapon.
There's been several other cases where Valve's made minor changes suiting the community's desires, and I generally believe, that while satisfying the loudest isn't Valve's primary concern they do generally pay attention to the things going on in the community and then weigh it against their own internal perspectives.
Well considering on average the peak for L4D players is 20,000 and the group now has 20,000 members... I wouldn't doubt if they reduce the price or something. One can only hope people organize to stop other important things such as pollution or hell, EA Sports Madden 49 or Battlefield 1944.
I joined when they had 4000 members, now they have 18000 (thats more then nonpeak hours on L4D). Valve has really just themselves into a hole on this one.
Also: COLTS YOU FUCKING FAIL.
Way to grab the old manifesto.
Agree and joined it a week ago.
